Red tail chicken hawk.

Yep, they eat whatever they want around here. Cat food, chicken feed, scraps that I throw out. I love to see them floating around above our property.

Our Blue Heeler hates them because they tease him. He barks and barks, but they just hang out in the trees or fly around over him, it sounds like they are laughing at him sometimes.

About a month ago I saw what must have been over 100 of them swirling around each other, flying higher and higher above our property until they slowly floated away into the sky. it was amazing. I had no idea that they ever got together in such numbers.

I cant say that in my life time that I've ever seen that many in one place at one time but it really sounds safe
from hawks as only a hand full ever come around here at any given time and always seems to be at least
one if even in in the distance ........

But I wish you luck in keeping them near by in the future ..........

I'd never seen that many before either, so I had to go and google it! Lol!

Apparently they do it a couple of times a year for some reason, I was just lucky enough to be outside to see it.

We do have hawks here, and one actually got pretty close, but I do think the ravens really help to keep them at a distance most of the time!

Oh it is most certain that the ravens keep the hawks away and I wish all chicken
owners were lucky enough to have one around as protection

The hawks are still around all the time. They must be watching because as as soon as I come out with one of my girls there they are again! I see two at a time. It's so bad I can't even bring the girls out. I must live smack dab in the middle of their nests or hunting grounds. I look up ones in the east flying above ones in the south flying towards me. I live close to a river. Does anyone know if hawks nest along rivers? ? I just can't get away from the darn things! Does anyone know what will scare a hawk away? People sure don't scare them!!
