Meanwhile I have 4 sfh x cl mutts hatched this week, first of the 30+ eggs started by the crazy broody pullet, she took yet another day's worth of eggs & I moved her ! I put her in on a nest of 9 eggs which candled nearly ready to hatch (one she started that I put in the bator) moved her after sunset & she has been sitting tight for 2 more days on the new nest. The 15 ! eggs she was on I candled and they all went into the bator, the first 9 appear to have all been started on different days , so that hatch is going to be a mess. The only good part is I believe I found someone who will trade me a big bunch of started EE birds (which these are) for a doeling goat in a couple months which is what I need so all those extra started eggs now have a reason.
I'm doing a face palm - 2 months behind schedule I moved the white-tan-brown egg layers out of the sfh pen (switching for mutt EE laying blue & olive) so I would have pure sfh eggs w/o needing to trap nest. BUT 1 of the mutt birds had gotten weirdly huge in the past couple wks, & the next am was suddenly a Rooster! & he picked the pure sfh pullet as his girlfriend ACK so now I am set back an entire month b/f I have the easy to identify pure sfh eggs I expected to have today forward

GIGANTOR the surprise Roo was banished to the far pen w/ 1 mutt EEgal this am they will get to de-bug the orchard this summer, along w/ some grow out birds who will join them soon...
on Red/White/Blue quilt news :
My cousin who will get the quilt Defended his PhD Dissertation yesterday it' s little confusing as he is now a Dr. of Nursing. the dissertation topic had to do w/ genetic factors in the success of different methods to stop smoking. I'm not sure what my cousin will go on to do now, but yesterday's success followed many hard years of effort and I will be getting myself in gear to get his R/W/B quilt done asap for him
