Red wine for your chickens??

I'm intrigued by the wine idea, since my girls always seem like they could use a little "pick me up" as the winter progresses, but now you also all have me wondering about ACV in the water. What does it do, besides keep algae from growing the waterer?

Well I guess it might be okay to give some to them every so often but I wouldn't for my pets.. if they got sick because of it I'd never be able to forgive myself.

So red wine is really healthy for people? I'd have to hold my nose to drink some, I hate the taste of any sort of alcohol except possibly champagne. (even that I can only drink a couple sips of) To me, apple cider vinegar is alcohol

I love that stuff. I could drink a whole bottle of it in one day.

It kills bacteria and helps the growth of good bacteria
I was going to put some to my birds water everyday but my mom won't even let me drink any, let alone give the animals some

I found this in a google search, it sounds like a nice night time treat! (Although, couldn't the bread cause impacted crops, or does soaking it make it safe?)

I kept a shed of sussex bantams laying all winter one year by feeding them a mixture of bread soaked in warm milk with a liberal dash of red wine mixed in. I fed them this each evening and they went to bed VERY contented... and no, I don't believe they were alcoholic!!

Also, one concern I do have about feeding chickens red wine is that alcohol actually lowers your core temperture, even though you feel warmer, so I would probably avoid feeding wine when the temperatures are dangerously cold.

Chicks can only tolerate RAW milk.

I wouldn't give them commercially produced grocery store milk.

My chickens do get my raw goats milk, left over raw cow milk, whey from cheese making, etc.

thank u for the info. always heard you should not give milk to puppies or dogs, can give them worms? maybe old wives tale. but that is why i never give any milk to any of my animals.

I gave our chickens wine when I wanted fertile eggs. Romantic music and a bubble machine, too. Didn't seem to make a lot of difference.

Your leopard-print robe and feather boa probably threw them off.
