My local feed store says they will have Red Wyandotte chicks next week. Are they probably red laced blue? Or is there a red wyandotte?
Thanks for yer help!

Depending what Country you are in there are Self Red Wyandottes, Red Columbian Wyandottes, Black-tailed Red Wyandottes & Tricolour (Speckled) Wyandottes.
Most common red coloured Wyandottes would be Gold Laced and Partridge, & maybe Blue Laced Red.

I am in WA state.
This little feed store lists wyandottes, "Red", Gold", & "Silver". I bought a "Gold" one from them last year and she definitely turned out to be a Gold Laced.
So now I am just wondering what the "Red" is. Red Laced maybe? Is there just a red laced? Or are there only red laced blues?
I think I'll have to get one just to find out : )

Blue-laced Red. Red-laced Blue is something all together different and I don't think we have it in the US.

See how the blue laces the red. In Red-laced Blue it would be the other way around.

I would imagine the chicks would be BLR. But you can never tell. I don't know of any hatchery that carries a red wyandotte though...

Well alrighty then. I'll just have to go get one next week.
I wasn't going to get any more chicks this season. Got 9 assorted already.
Planned on 4 new chicks this year and will probably end up with 11.
Perfectly normal. Right?
