Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: Extended Edition

I posted the pictures of her in the thread what did you do in the garden today
I rarely check that thread I can barley keep grass growing with the chickens tearing up everything, lol. I can't imagine having a garden, but that and a compost bin are on my list of things I'll get around to eventually.

I just have to stop growing chickens for like a minute, lol

Well, prepare for double the cuteness overload . . .there are twins! Okay, maybe not twins, but I only kept seeing one. Then I stuck my hand under her and felt a second little fluff ball. I lifted her a tiny bit and there was a second one that looks nearly identical, at least from the brief peak I got. :ya:love:wee:jumpy
Aww! How sweet!

For the compost heap you can put one in with the chickens and let them do the work.

That's kind of the plan I'm working on, but I was waiting on cooler weather so it doesn't smell too bad when everything first starts breaking down.

One we get the second run complete (nearly there) we'll be sectioning off the back part of the yard (roughly 40 x 50 ft) just for the chickens.

Once that's done I'll be putting some 'grazing boxes', a dust bath area and compost heap, which will also be a bug buffet for the chickens.

I've just been stalling waiting for the cooler weather, now that it's here I no longer have any excuses to not get them done.

I also have an excuse for something. Even getting the compost heap made for the chickens, I believe it's just because I am too stinking lazy, stressed and not too mention busy.

I'll probably be using those in the next few days.

It has taken my son and I an unreasonable 4 days to get this run together. The instructions were garbage and the 4 types of bolts weren't labeled, so we had to redo several steps. Now I'm sore, tired and frustrated and probably won't get much else accomplished for at least two weeks. But I have chicks to love on, so it'll all be worth it.

Once everything is completed I'll have a better setup for brooding outdoors, integrating and quarantining incoming birds (since I might just get pol pullets next spring).

Do the Sweetie babies have names yet? I can't remember if we did that. 🤔 If not, I'd like to propose Biscuit for one of the Cookie look alikes as that is what the Brits call the same treat we Yanks call a cookie. 🥳 Happy birthday babies and congrats Sweety - you did it! 🪅 And here's to hoping you're just as amazing at raising them. 🥂
