That was rough, but necessary. The shells are surprisingly harder than I'd imagined, but then I did drop a yard egg which didn't crack.

Both were completely dried out, which I really don't understand. Neither pipped externally and the incubator has been at 70-75% humidity since the second day of lockdown when I added the sponge.

There's definitely a fine line between helping too early and waiting to long to intervene

It’s a shame so many had trouble but I believe it’s a necessary part in learning the ropes. Next time you will have more ideas and skills to intervene when needed. Even in the wild not all eggs would have made it. I am still very thankful we got to see it all play out and get updates along the way! Happy you still got some sweet little chickies from the hatch!

Sweety still has her five under her and I can't wait to see what they look like. They're due to hatch on the 4th of September.

i'm dying to see how she raises them so I can do a better job with my hatched chicks.

There's nothing like a pile of lap napping chicks to brighten your day.

I was gonna get pictures earlier, but they all climbed in my lap and went to sleep

I'm making progress, slowly but surely. I'm achieving this by wetting the edges of the membrane with warm water and gently rubbing the edges. I trim any bits that come loose with a small pair of sewing scissors so it can't get restuck. I continue until the chick says she/he has had enough. It's tempting to continue since I'm so close, but the chick needs a break and time to warm up.



After I wrapped him/her in a warm dry towel and gave him/her a bit of egg yolk slurry he/she fell asleep.

Thanks. I didn't have this particular issue with my last hatch, so I read a LOT of threads last night.

I was actually pondering some names, and looking up some that mean warrior. I was hoping to find some gender neutral options.
