It's horribly hot and humid here today, so I figured it a perfect day to try what I read here on the forum about using ice bottles to keep your chickens cool. My gallon jug wasn't completely frozen yet, so I gave them my frozen bottles. I was surprised how quickly I noticed a little difference in the air.

She was the first one to check it out.

Didn't take him long to figure out where the new best spot in the coop was, lol.

She stood for a while facing it, then turned around to cool off her fanny

Hysterical! I have a fan but will add the frozen bottles to cool them down. Another hot humid heat wave week here. Poor girls!

The bottles have since melted, but it really made a huge difference in the temperature in their coop.

I have the larger hanging waterer's and to keep them cool along w/ ACV w/ mother I freeze bottles that fit inside the waterer and that keeps the water cold to the morning. Then I swap them w/ another set of frozen container's. I refreeze them for the next day. For the little waterer's I use smaller containers.

LOVE IT!!! I too do the fan thing when it gets hot. And my BIG BO likes to put her fanny into the fan and let it blow her tail feathers all about. It cracks me up.

I have had a fan running in the coop for months now and I set up a misting system on the pergola near the coop. Now I am going to have to look to see how I can rig up some frozen water bottles in front of the fan in the coop.

Thanks so much for sharing - the photos are priceless.
