Hey There

Would really like some help. We have 3 chooks and the two older chooks have redness around the beak and eyes. The younger chook hasn't. They are all pretty happy and eating well and running around the back yard like normal but just a bit worried if the redness is an allergy or mite or something I should be taking them to the Vet for.
Thanks for all your help

Welcome to BYC. If both sides look the same, and there is no swelling, I would bet that there is no problem, just normal color as they age. Many breeds have red faces. Checking for mites or lice on the skin would be wise to do periodically. Chickens can get fungal and protozoan infections around the face, beak, comb, and wattles, so it's always good to look them over for anything unusual.

That reddness also looks normal to me. As birds mature, their faces become redder. It's a sign that a hen is getting closer to laying and that their bodies are maturing. Almost all chickens have this normal red coloration around their faces.
