My chickens’ egg production has reduced since I got them. Initially the quality of the eggs reduced (not as deep a colour and a little smaller I think). We bought a chicken feeder and drinker from one of the pet stores here and were having issues for a while with them becoming clogged/knocked over. Very annoying!
The feeder situation has been rectified since Saturday (bought a new feeder), the drinker is still an issue, I’ve ordered a new one and waiting on it arriving and in the mean time have put a Tupperware container full of water in with them which which they can’t tip over as easily and is too big to get bedding kicked in.
Anyway I’m thinking these issues have been the cause of the reduced egg production?
Otherwise the girls are in great health and great form. They get 2-3 hours of free-ranging a day and rest of time are in a run/coop. They’re fed layers pellets, some greens, and the odd time a little scratch mix.
Any thoughts?
