We buy frozen turkeys and like to grind them up and make sausage. Have heard you should not refreeze poultry twice unless it has been cooked. Any thoughts?

if it is thawed in a frig and kept cold then you can refreeze at least that is what the usda says

We were always told, not to growing up. But I think it was cause you have to remember that the meat was already out for a few days. So next time you pull it out've freezer you would want to use it quick. IE, not let is sit in the fridge for a few days.
I always write "USD" on packs, For me it stands for "Use Same Day" Just so I don't have to worry about mixing up meat.
Sounds awesome that your making your own turkery sausge cool!! I might have to try this!

Food handlers regulations say yes, it must be cooked before it is refrozen.
