regulating humidity

I can't keep my humidity regulated its making me crazy I see its out of water so I add a little more and the humidity goes way up how can I keep it from going bonkers please help

The humidity is controlled by the surface area of the water. If you want to keep your humidity constant, determine the amount of surface area needed to reach that humidity. Once you know that, devise a container that is deeper so that it will hold more water but also has the same surface area needed. The deeper water source will allow you to go longer between fillings while having the same surface area needed, it will keep the humidity constant at that rate.
