Rehome chickens

We have two chickens we would like to rehome. They keep getting out of our yard and our neighbors aren't happy. We also have an Eglo home for them that we would be willing to sell. We just bought it a month or two ago. We are in Murrieta, CA.

Sorry you feel you need to re-home your birds. Are you at all interested in suggestions that might help you to keep the birds at home so that you can keep them or are you certain that re-homing them is best? I am not asking to try to sway you either way, just would hate to see someone give up birds if they don't truly want to if simple fixes can help them stay where they are.

I'm not opposed to keeping them at all. They were allowed to free range in our backyard. Then they started getting out so we put up chicken wire. Then again one of them found a way out. She is jumping over the fence that we have. I've been keeping them in their coop now which has a small run, but they are seriously angry lol with the sudden change in freedom. So, now they just make a ton of noise almost constantly. Will they eventually get used to the smaller area and stop being so angry? They keep pacing inside the run too which makes me feel bad.

Have you tried clipping just one wing? This approach is more successful at keeping them contained as it throws them entirely off balance - sometimes if you do both wings they are able to overcome the clipped flight feathers enough to make short hops that take them over fencing, etc. This might address not only the escaping but also their objection to the new confinement that has had to be put in place....which would potentially help with the noise issue. Going that route it might also be advisable to move the coop away from the fence as a clever hen will use the added height she can gain by hopping on top of the coop to shorten the distance she has to clear to get over the fence.
