A relative purchased six baby ducks thinking they would set them free when they matured. We found out they are Rouen and are meant to be domestic. We have had them in our back yard to help her out for a month but are not looking for a 15 year commitment. There is a large lake near our home but I'm not sure they would survive on their own or through the winter. They are currently about 3 months old. Any ideas or interest in taking them in? Thanks for your help. Note....I did not purchase these ducks but now seem to be in charge of them.

No matter what you do, don't release them. There are many reasons but the one that seems to get people's attention is that it's against the law. Why not keep them until they are no longer laying then eat them?

try posting in the buy sell section of this forum or find your state thread in the where are you? where am i? section and post there or your local online classifieds like craigslist.

and no its not ok let them loose on the lake and leave them there...they are a domestic animal and know nothing about the wild or being wild...they may or may not survive for a while but then from not knowing anything about being wild ethier the elements or some predator will kill them.

its very sad that your family bought them and then not really wanted them and was just going the basically throw them out because they grew up and weren't cute anymore.

i hope you find good homes for all of them
