I took in three Mallard ducklings for a friend that was in over their head, but, after raising them for 10 weeks I am uncomfortable releasing them to the wild as they are tame. I was going to keep them here, and would absolutely LOVE to as they are awesome ducks, but my neighborhood deed restrictions do not allow it. We had hoped after becoming attached to them to build them something hidden on my property, but, have not been successful getting a variance from our neighborhood and we don't have children to get involved in 4-h or anything.
The three ducks have had their wings clipped, are all 11 weeks old, and in great health. They graze freely and eat Mazuri waterfowl maintenance feed and still get some starter crumbles. They eat treats well and allow you to pick them up and hold them. They're really great pets. They're not accustomed to living in a duck house yet, they still live in a 3ftx8ft water trough that's huge and covered with wire in my garage and in a covered daytime run-type pen in the day in the grass or free ranging while we are with them.
