Well, some of you know that my dog killed two of my baby chicks last week. We decided to rehome the other two because we do not have a safe place for the chicks yet. We jumped into chickens too soon. So their new home is a 7 acre farm. The very nice family who took them own 3 horses, 2 goats, and a flock of 6 chickens. The lady is a equine massage therapist so she seemed very kind. I believe the chicks will be much happier there with her family than here with our dogs trying to kill them every moment I turn my head.
Next step, build a coop and an above ground garden area away from the back yard where my dogs play. It will be small flock paradise for the chickens when finished. Then, we will purchase some eggs from the local 4H and see what happens. I think I want some rare breed chicks this time around. Nice thing is we have all the time in the world to decide what exactly we want to do.

So sorry about your babies! I have lucked out with my dog. He just looks at them like he's so bored! The people who took your remaining babies in sounds like they are nice. Good luck!!

Sorry for your loss! We had to rehome our roo, as he was just too loud for our neighborhood. Even though I know he went to a great little farm, I still miss him! Hope you have better luck with your second flock!
