Hello,
I am new at raising chickens and am super excited!
My chickens turn 12 weeks tomorrow.
We have 10 chickens that we started in a large stock tank with a mesh top. Two & a half weeks ago I came home to find one of them pecked. Feathers gone but didn't see much blood. I immediately isolated her. That weekend the new coop was completed and the nine healthy chickens were moved. After about 10 days we put the blue/black goop on her back, and tried to put her in the coop with the others. Her feathers had not grown back yet. They cornered her. We moved her back to the stock tank. Her feathers are now coming in wonderfully. We tried again yesterday and they still seemed to "pick" on her. I again put her in the stock tank.
We do not have their outdoor fencing up yet. This year the weather in Minnesota has been crazy. Will it help to have a red light bulb in the coop during the day? Any suggestions on what I can do? She is sweet and has become quite tame.
Thanks so much!!!
