Hello all!
I need advice on reintroducing an injured rooster to my flock. I am a teacher at a school and in charge of our school coop. We have a very sweet, handsome rooster named Buckbeak who got a leg injury and subsequent infection. He was separated from our hens for about a month and a half while he recovered indoors and his leg was healed enough to go back outside. However, when I attempted to reintroduce Buckbeak back into to the flock last week, the hens turned on him and actually went after his healed leg, resulting in a bad re-injury that put my sweet guy back inside. :( It's clear that the girls have reorganized the pecking order, but I am worried that it may be impossible to reintroduce him safely. Is it more advisable to try and rehome him? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

maybe try separating him into a small run or brooder, where the hens can see him but not peck at him. Then try integrating him by putting him on the roost with the others one night 1-2 weeks later.
