Hi all, I'm starting to breed some Pekins and just wanting to know although the chickens don't mind too much, if you keep some chicks that turn into hens and put them back with the rooster (or older hens with a cockerel) if they have chicks is there likely to be genetic issues? Or just wrong anyway haha. Thanks all. Hope that makes sense.

I'm glad you asked. My Iowa Blue rooster is currently living with his two daughters; their mother died last summer. One of the girls tried to go broody, but I kept taking her eggs because I was concerned about inbreeding. I like raising chickens, but I know nothing about breeding chickens.
