Releasing Quail

CHECK YOUR STATE LAWS BUBBA... STRAIT FROM TN HUNTING HANDBOOK... "Pen-raised game birds: The release of pen-raised game birds is prohibited."

Well, that is NOT true, because 1 bob chick (8 weeks) got loose 3 months ago, and our neighbor saw it 3 days ago.

How do you know it's the same bird?

I said MOST do not make it, there are exeptions. There must be almost no predators in your area, and there must be someone feeding him. That is a very young age for a bird to be released at, and it is near impossible that he could have found enough food unless you live where there is a good population of bobwhites already there.

Ah, that helps.

Also, Robo is correct that most captive raised birds aren't going to make it in the wild. That doesn't mean there won't ever be an exception. And, 3 months during the warm part of the year is a far cry from surviving the winter cold. If it makes it through to spring then it has adapted pretty well. This doesn't mean that others will, though.

..... OR THAT THIS ALLEGED SURVIVOR WILL CONTINUE TO SURVIVE...
