Releasing Quail

I know wild quail populations have been dropping in certain areas so people would release domestic quail and was wondering if a wild female bred with a domestic male would the chicks take after the wild mom and sit on there eggs or would they not be broody and then lower the population by not reproducing.

One thing people do not often consider is the potential effect of release of pen raised birds on the wild population. Often domesticated birds have viruses that have mutated in different strains than in wild birds which can be potentially fatal to wild birds. There is also a problem with released birds competing for mates with wild birds. Often we have good intentions that lead to disastrous results. Reintroduction programs for all animals seem to only be beneficial when the original parents are wild captives. Because ecosystems are so complex there are literally tens of hundreds of stories where we try and do some good and end up causing a horrid result we could not foresee. All current research on this particular topic seems to support the idea that we try to help wild populations recover by making the environment better for them without introducing birds that are not already genetically selected for that environment.
