Relentless Hawk...Help!!

Read a story about a guy who shot a raptor and buried it in his field, kept his mouth shut..... but......game warden came around with a signal receiver and walked right to where the bird was buried with it's transponder (or whatever its called) still in it's body.. BUSTED!
Seems like the guy would have noticed a radio transmitter mounted on the bird

The hawk is damaging your property and is in your property you dont have another choice but to shoot it

See if there's a falconry club or a bird bander group in your state. They'll have the permits to come out and trap the bird for you. If it's a young bird they may take it for taining and use it if it's older maybe they could band it and relocate it. I like birds of prey, it would be a shame to shoot one but you can't let it eat your chickens either.

You do that and the game warden finds out, you're in one heap of trouble not to mention, your bank account will be cleaned out.

Make your chicken unavailable to the raptor, have a netting over the run so that the chicken are safe underneath. If the food isn't available, the bird will go else where.

Is this your picture? What kind of birds are they? They are beautiful! I noticed one like this hanging around our place a few weeks ago. Have not seen them before. Mostly we have red-tailed hawks and bald eagles here.

I had a gut feeling to go check on my chickens outside yesterday and sure enough 2 hawks were swooping in to get them. One flew away but the other wasn't afraid of me or my rooster! It was when I got within a few feet of it, the hawk took off. Luckily none of my chickens were hurt, they were all just terrified. :( I just keep my gun handy now, I've protected my flock from coyotes, raccoons, stray cats, ex boyfriends(long story) and now hawks. I don't let anything touch my babies ;)

I'm sitting here pondering the insanity of livelihoods and bank accounts being in jeopardy over a bird. People encourage deer & bear hunting....among many others, but God forbid you kill a flippin' hawk. Just saying....

Exactly! I had huge problems with red tail hawks, i got my BB gun, pumped it 4 or 5 times, shot them in the leg or the butt, doesn't kill them and they get the message and if they don't hit them again. Never killed one and i had to get rid of maybe 20 or so of them.
