Reliable thermometer/hygrometer?

I've been using the glass floating style aquarium thermometers that are 1.00 at walmart... they seem to be accurate when I check with a medical thermometer. I also use a springfield digital and reptile hygrometer for humidity readings. The springfield digital seems to be a little finicky on temps... I think they lose accuarcy as the battery wears down but the humidity has always been fairly accurate.

To everyone who answered, thanks. It seems like theres alot of info about calibrating the hygrometer part, but I am still confused as what to do about the temp part. I have an acurite, a glass bulb thermometer, and the one that has the little probe to tell the outside/inside temp. The probe is just sitting in there, I couldnt find a water wiggler to put it in. Anyway, they all read differently, by like 5 degrees! It's so frustrating, I dont know which one to go by, so Im kinda just splitting the difference so to speak. I wish I knew which one to trust

I am using the exactly the same thermometers that you are. And i am having the exactly the same problem. Don't know if it is where they are located in my incubator or if they are really just all wrong. Hope everything works well. It is my first test batch in my homemade incubator. 20 quail and 20 chicken eggs.

the ones from walmart work great for a few hatches, then there junk. moisture gets in side them and screws them up. just keep the treys filled with water, buy a brinsea spot check for temp readings and happy hatching
