Hello, I need some help or a second opinion. I have a flock of four Americanas, one being a rooster, and unfortunately have to rehome them. My dog is very mean to the chickens and has killed two sadly, so one of my close friends offered to take them for the sake of the chickens. They live about 2 miles from us in a rural area, will the chickens try to come back to my house? If they come back I don't know if I'll be able to send them back! Please let me know, any help would be appreciated

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am sorry you have to rehome. If the person that takes these birds locks them in their coop/run for several days or so, they should not return to your home. Locking them in the coop will give them the security to know this is a safe place to be and repeated nights and days of sleeping and living there, they should stay, knowing it is now home. But if this new person free ranges them immediately, it's a good possibility they will come looking for home.

Good luck!
