Chickencharmer - I know it is unlikely in CA, but here in the south there are some people who view coon as a food source
(large rats if you ask me). You might search around, possibly criagslist, and see if you have any takers. Then trap the nasty thing and let someone take it off your hands. Unless your dad is vegetarian maybe he will go for the whole "circle of life thing".
