Yep that's me an my chicks. I only grew the beard in the photo to see how long it would grow before my wife cut it off one night lol.

I would want it inside the coop for me personally. That is due to my climate in Canada and if i ever had chicks early in the year or late fall i would want to keep them warm and draft free. I also keep all feed and other things inside the coop.

A lot depends on the size of the coop. Inside the coop would afford an extra layer of predator protection. I could see advantages either way.

She just threatened to cut it off, I got tired of it one day and took that photo just before cutting it off. And yep that ole fart in the photo is me.
