So here's the deal: I have 3 broody hens with a total clutch of 12 eggs. I plan on removing them once they hatch into a brooder, so will the hens have any reaction to me taking them? Or should I let the hen take care of them? (i had a bad feeling and many questions about this one, so it's an almost no). Advice? Keep in mind I have 3 roosters and a very large flock.

It is so much easier to have a broody raise the chicks and the chicks are better adjusted, healthier, and there is no re-introduction issues. That said, the first few days are dangerous for the young chicks, if they get out away from the mother they can get pecked to death while she is still sitting on eggs. I like to put them in a large dog crate (with food and water) for the first few days until the broody is up walking around, ready to show them where the food and water is. I have had 2 broodies in 1 cage when eggs are due at the same time, and they were good at team parenting.
