Hi everyone! Our muscovy just laid her first egg today! Yay! We want her to hatch some of them, I know she won't sit until she has quite a few in there, but we r in North Central FL and it's hot here! Very humid, and very hot. It's getting to 95* + everyday. Do I just leave the eggs in her nest? Or do I remove them and take them in the house and rotate them daily till we get around 10...? I've read that they need to stay around 60* until she is ready to sit on them. Any advice is greatly appreciated

How exciting!

It is best not to set the first eggs, as they are usually too small and not good enough to hatch healthy ducklings. Instead, you could wait for a week, start collecting her eggs, and leave golf balls in the nest to trick her into thinking her eggs are still there. Once she has laid enough eggs to set and begins setting on the golf balls, replace them with her eggs. Her eggs should be kept in a cool storage area with their large ends pointing up. They can be turned by propping one end of the carton up with some wood and then switching it to the other end twice a day.

Best of luck!
