Removing a hatching egg

well when they internally pip the humidity will spike, you could also run a humidifier in the room to help with some humidity, but even if humidity was 60% if several internally pipped at once it would spike to 80-100% humidity depending how full the incubator was

I live in Houston so our humidity is high which is why I’m so perplexed by it being so low compared to what I was researching it should be. I have all my trays filled and four paper towels that I folded into little squares that are soaked in water and the humidity is still only reading at 68-69%. I didn’t know the humidity would spike quite like that when they pip. I am going to do what you suggested and just leave it be unless it drops below 60%. Thank you for your help!

Anytime, my problem was helping one in trouble as at first was getting a lot of mal positioned and opening it to try and save the one that was in trouble and would lose the rest to shrink wrapping for saving one, no meddling after lock down, took me several tries to curb the urge

I usually don't worry about humidity as much as not opening the incubator after lock down on day 18 unless humidity drops below 60%
@Ridgerunner got me through having such bad hatches and helped me curb the urge to meddle
That is the most calming thing I have read on hatching. We newbies worry a lot. Thanks

I was a newbie once too, and probably bout made ridgerunner pull their hair out lol, that is the nice thing about having people more knowledgeable, and learning to listen to advice especially when it comes to hatching, I can't diagnose the incubator issues well yet but least learned not to meddle

You should just repost your “discussions “ with Ridgerunner as an article and refer us to it when we panic. lol

I also went to mypetchicken.com because you can live chat with someone experienced but, of course, it’s not available on Sundays. They helped with getting me started on incubation, as well as, stalking these forums lol.
