I have 3 old galvanized metal chicken waterers that I use for the warmer months. They are easy to fill, compared to the ones I use in the winter time. I noticed, however, that I was seeing rust in the water. The oldest one was horrible. I'm sure a little would kill the chickens, but this was just gross. My husband bought a few gallons of white vinegar, poured it in, and we let it sit for a day out back. Poured out that mixture, put in a good mound of baking soda and water, let that sit for an hour, and I have what looks like brand new waterers! No scrubbing and 100% natural! Of course, they still prefer drinking from puddles, but all my waterers are crystal clear!
