In the Brooder
I just want to through this out there. I know it’s just a chicken, but my chickens are like cats or dogs to most people. The cost to take her to the vet is ridiculous compared to the cost of the chicken. I know this.
I have a baby chick approx 17 days old now. We initially took her to the vet for breathing problems. They gave us antibiotics and sent us in our way. I called several times after with updates and questions and was not happy so I took her to the hospital for a second opinion. They changed her antibiotic and gave her a nebulizer treatment. The X-ray showed fungus in the lungs so they gave me 2 more antibiotics. Her weight and activity has been declining and fluctuating until yesterday. She began eating normal food and drinking from the water feeder. She was walking around the little box I made for her. She had actually gained 1-2 grams more than when we started. The blood work came back today stating she is in renal failure. Any suggests on the outcome of recovery or quality of life?
