Usually we buy chicks. This year (because my little guy is doing kindergarten by home school), we built an incubator and got a dozen hatching RIR as a "science project".
Incubator and hatching eggs are at my mother's house. On day 7 after candling, my mother noticed a small dent in one of the eggs. She put a piece of scotch tape over it. Fast forward to now. Eggs go into lock down tomorrow morning, but yesterday we noticed seeping under the tape. Egg looks beautiful other than that. Perfect day 17 growth, beautiful air cell.
Do you think this chick has a chance of survival?

I have absolutely no eggsperience with hatching eggs, but i assume the chances for the chick are not good. :(
Instead of scotch tape i would try super glue, it was once created to replace band-aids and stitching of wounds and it instantly hardens upon contact with water. Just if you want to give the egg a second chance…

I wished she would have used something different to seal it up, but too late now :(
I feel bad for the little guy, he's kept up with all the other eggs despite the dent, but I'm sure he's doomed :hmm

I don't see any seeping. Usually uts an Amber color. Just extra condensation. Did you bump the humidity already? Or add more water? If the egg sniff tests ok I'd leave it. Sometimes they surprise us.

Rooting for Denty (egg)!! :fl:jumpy

I have a badly cracked egg (locally acquired, didn't discover the damage until first candling and the chick was already well along by then) that still keeps plugging along, and it's 2/3 of the way to hatch day. I repaired the "crazing" with liquid bandage and am hoping for the best.

Looking forward to seeing photos of your fluffballs soon!
