repelling flies

Help me rid flies. Fly traps work ok but smell like rotten fish after a few days. besides cleaning daily any other ideas??

I use sand in my coop and wood chips in my pen. I sprinkle DE or Sevin powder in both the sand and wood chips. The powder helps control the ammonia smell and it drys out the poop that attracts the Flies and other bugs. Also proven to works is Vanillaroma car fresheners. The ones that are in the shape of trees. I hang them in the coop. Works great.
