Replacement EEs

Alright, the lady agrees and he’s going back 😂 So, when I get the replacement, I’m looking for NO rust patches on the shoulders and small, very pale comb, right?

Yep - someone that looks like your little pullet on the right is perfect.

It's ok if the bird is red - but what you want to avoid is a pattern that is broken up by red on the shoulders. So your first bird was grey and then had bright red/rust shoulder. That's generally a male pattern. The comb is secondary - one of my EEs got a bigger redder comb before the other one, but they're both pullets - but the smaller the better, generally.

This lady seems like a good egg, so to speak. Two go arounds for trading in birds means she wants you to be happy. You might let her guide you to the ones she thinks are pullets.

I certainly hope so! If she's the same age as the others (about 13-14 weeks now?), looks like a pullet to me. (It's hard because her coloring is so red - but it does seem to be pretty uniform and the comb looks good - is it a single comb?)

Glad you like her and let us know when they both lay/crow.
