A few weeks ago we lost 2 of our 3 babies. Our Silver Appleyard is very broody. We gave her a few fake eggs to sit on. We do have eggs in the incubator on day 14 now. Planing on putting then in while she is taking her short stretch We are hoping she will take the babies in as her own. Wanted to ask what others think. We do have a backup plan just in case.

I was going to do this with hens since i cant have a rooster. I just couldn't get her to go broody. So i think it will work just finw.

Do you mean after they hatch or put them under her and let her hatch them. Which would guarantee she'd accept them. If she is truly broody wait till right before hatch and slip the eggs into her nest.
Very sorry for your loss.

Thank you they are missed everyday. I was thinking after they hatch. If she is still broody when the time comes I may give them to her to hatch. She is a very sweet girl, friendly and loving..
