Replacing Rooster - Young or Mature?

Hi all. We lost our rooster last week. Something grabbed him and off he went. He did his job and protected his girls, but we miss having a rooster around. He was very well behaved and respected people. We never had any issues with him at all.

So my question is . . . is it better to get a juvenile rooster who we can handle and hopefully raise to be a good boy, or get a mature rooster that is already polite? We have opportunities for both and I want to make an educated choice.

I would get a older rooster.

You can go check him out and see what he is like before you buy or home him. Also he will get right down to his job.

If you get a younger one you will have no way of telling what he will be like when he grows up. Also the mature hens will attack him and bully him when he is not mature.
