Reposting from different forum: chick with swollen foot!

How is the pet carrier made? Can you place her water station higher so she doesn't know it over? Maybe use cage cups?
It has doors on the top and bottom the top door is solid plastic with something similar to a bolt lock (like a rod that you pull to release it from the latch hole to open) the main front door is similar to a metal crate with the same type of latch device. I moved the water cup to the front door and have it held up with a rubber band now to make sure it doesnt tip over again.

I was just watching her for a bit. She is drinking a sip here and there on her own. Is there anyway to get antibiotics over the counter or something similar. The nearest vet that can treat animals other than dogs cats and horses is over an hour away and are verrryyy expensive. Just to see the vet without treatment or a prescription is $140. Her leg isnt hot to the touch, but I think it might have been a little hot 2 days ago when it was really swollen. It is obviously still swollen though.

I gave her a little fermented cabbage I made and mashed up tomato along with her chick crumble. She didnt eat the egg I had given her, but I will try again tomorrow.
You can order antibiotics online. It's hard to know what's causing the swelling, so...if I were going to treat an unknown like this I would use either Baytril or Amoxicillin.

Do you provide her with chick grit too? I would try to push chick starter on her if she will eat. Leave off the cabbage.

She is doing really well today the swelling is still there but I can tell it went down. She was eager to get out and walk around on the carpeted porch as soon as I opened her door to change her water. She isnt limping as bad either.

I know I say the swelling has down everytime, but it really does look a lot better than before.

I'm glad that she's improving! Keep us with the foot soaking, hopefully that will make a big difference in a couple of days.
