My powerbar is hung close to the ceiling so they have never bothered it. The heat lamp is hung from the ceiling only during winter about 18" above the water bucket. I just make sure it isn't too close to a wall. If you have access to those old steel refrigerator drawers they make GREAT water buckets because they never get knocked over. They are heavy enough that they just sit there. I don't have any anymore, wish I did!
My lights are actually just those cheap under the counter flourescants that plug in. You don't need anything too bright really. I have two of them.
I don't heat my coop, they do better without actually. But I do put a heatlamp above the water dish.
