Reposting of Craigslist ads

This is why it bothers me. The majority of the items are just plain junk and if I wanted to look at items for sale I'd look in a forum set aside for that. That being said, I can see the point that some it might be useful to people who are looking for a deal or an idea.

I used to think that all those "free" items on craigslist was "junk" too until one day I sat back and thought about how we really do live in a disposable world and that I wanted to choose to try and repurpose the "junk" around me. You might just think that the free junk car is just that junk but I once saw where someone converted a VW bus into the finest coop ever. Put a little paint on something and add some wire here and there and you might just end up with something pretty dang unique. This type of thinking isn't for everyone and I can respect that too. Some people just flat out don't have the time or whatever to repurpose things but just remember something that is a little different is always much nicer than that fancy pants thing that looks just exactly like everyone elses.

I cruise Craigslist daily...really multiple times daily. I find all kinds of wonderful things...fencing, canning jars, stepping stones, etc. Heck, I even post my own ads to get rid of things as well. I believe that "One mans trash is another mans treasure" is truly real. And honestly I can say that everything that I have picked up from Craigslist is NOT trash! I prefer it over eBay.

I think people posting links for craigslist ads are just people wanting to help someone else out...that they have found something wonderful, but don't need it themselves-that they are being unselfish and passing along the good fortune.

I happen to love these links too as CL has really helped us build our coop. We got all the material to build the foundation and floor of our coop out of wood someone was offering for FREE. And then we found someone giving away old windows from their house and we were able to put 6 of them in our coop... a little paint on the windows and they look perfect! I see no harm in these link.... especially in the coop design forum! I can't get over how helpful this site has been for me in the design and construction of out coop. I just can't wait to see how the girls like it when they move in in a couple weeks.

The best I can do is tell you that I've never found anything on Craigslist I can use. Will that do? I do, however, love to scavenge in the construction dumpsters of log homes under construction for fabulous free wood (with their permission).
