My husband and I have several reptile heating strips for our lizards, my question is can we use them to prevent our chicken waterer from freezing? We have the basic 3 gallon waterer. Our thoughts were that we could place the heating pad underneath the waterer?
Any form of input would be helpful at this point. Thanks!

I wanted to bump you, I would love to also know if this would work!

I just read an article in Backyard Poultry magazine.
Helpful hints section: Talks about using seedling mats underneath the waterers. I would think the reptile mats would work too.

This will work just fine! It may work a little too well, watch for scum build-up in the waterer

Our L&M Supply store in town has a 3 gallon electric heated water jug for $35, works great.
