My husband and I have several reptile heating strips for our lizards, my question is can we use them to prevent our chicken waterer from freezing? We have the basic 3 gallon waterer. Our thoughts were that we could place the heating pad underneath the waterer?

Just remember that they are not meant to be outside or get wet. So if you make sure it is protected it probably wont be to bad. Also make sure it is on a ground falut outlet.(the one with the buttons in the middle)

If you're looking for something similar, I use a heat mat designed for dog houses/outdoors. It's water-proof, thermostatically-controlled to not heat above 102 degrees (about chicken/dog body temp) and has a chew/peck-proof covering on the cord.
I keep it on the floor of my small coop to keep things from dropping below freezing.

In all my plastic waterers, I use fish tank SUBMERSIBLE turtle encased & FLAT water heaters…Walmart special 🤭😉
