ReptiPro 5000 & 6000 Hatch-a-long Thread

I am on day 10 today and most of my air cells still look way too small (quite a few still look like day 1). My humidity is setting almost the same as the igloo (little higher) and those are fine. I have no water in the reptipro and my house humidity is in the 30's, but in the reptipro it stays 45-55% - i CANNOT get it to go down. I have also had quite a few blood rings.
This... My air cells and humidity issues. The air cells are still way too small and I cannot figure out how to get the humidity down, I am running the other incubator right now at around 50% and those air cells are fine. They are in cardboard flats cut down to 4x4 egg holes and holes cut in the bottom. should I take those out? Lay then on their sides? I am afraid I will drop them during shelf changes.

if you have not added any water and your house humidity reading is right.. then the hygrometer is off.. because the incubator reading should be reading less than the house reading

if the air cells are too small then try opening the door.. adding a wide dish (like a plastic sandwich box) of plain dry Rice... let the rice absorb the excess moisture and stir the rice often (moving the rice on the bottom of the dish to the top)
The rice should help absorb excess moisture from the air of the bator... also if you have any small packets of silica gel (the little packets that come in all sorts of things when you buy them that act as moisture controls) they can also be added to the bator.

First time ever - twins - both developing! Yes I did know it was a double when it went in. Normally I am lucky if I get one to start and then they never make it to lockdown. I really hope these two make it!!

My RH in the room is in the mid 30's

Are you saying I neeeeed to go buy some shoes and a purse to get the silica packs? (please, LOL - I could use some retail therapy)

I'll go raid the rice.

lol.. I have a big jar of the stuff.. used to use it to dry flowers

you can buy big jars of it.. also I am willing to bet that someone on ebay or amazon sells the packets in bulk!

Well, rice is in, I put in 3 little bowls (they each only hold a few tablespoons). I should be able to get it at Hobby Lobby or Michaels right? I think I will search ebay though anyway... and check out the hatching eggs, LOL. I have an air pump too, but when I shut the door on the tube I think it pinches it too much cause I cannot hardley get the door to shut.
