Hi! You got your bator? Yaay!

I did really good with my first hatch. EE's, shipped eggs. But I'll tell you what, those showgirls are next to impossible to hatch. I lucked out with one, then two, and now, even with them in the new bator, I am down to 3 eggs left. I still have a week and a half to go. The first two hatches of them were in my stryo bator.
I have been reading on the showgirl thread, that a lot of people are having bad hatches with them. No more hatching for me after these hatch, if they hatch. I am done for the summer. You are lucky you have your own eggs to hatch.
Remember, you don't need to add humidity at first, and you will want to open it a few times a day. Then during lock down, you still want to open it. My first hatch was so good! I did everything like that..opening the bator to take a chick out because it raised the humidity up so high, and I had other eggs that hadn't even pipped yet, so took the babies out and put them in the brooder to dry. They did fine. I kept two of them, they are healthy little cuties.
What are you setting first? Let me think, if you have any Silkie eggs..it will be Silkies..lucky you!
Good luck.

I have been on a break from the board, I need a break from hatching... I have been getting 98-100% hatches and am over run with chicks!!
lol.. I know the feeling.. I'm also taking a break from the board...
I have a batch of quail eggs going into the bator soon.. then may take a mini break from hatching for a bit just so I can get some of the older birds butchered

I have only used my new bator a couple of times now, but I just got some more showgirl eggs to go in..and more coming. I am determined to get me a couple of showgirls, and a partridge silkie, or partridge showgirl! Going to try that method of putting them into the turned on bator, but not turned on turner for a few days. It is supposed to help settle the shipped eggs air sacs. So, will give a try, several people are doing that now. Hope it helps. I still have the three that will go into lock down Sunday, but I will have to put them down on their sides into another bator to be able to do this for the ones I just got. I think they will be ok? Laying on their sides for a while longer shouldn't hurt..I hope. They are pretty far along. Will try and keep the humidity down the same as they were in the 6000. The air sacs are coming along nicely, had to start adding a little humidity to the bator. Keeping it in the 30's now so they don't get any bigger. These babies need room to turn around! Due to hatch the 4th of July. Hope they come earlier. :) I'm going to go ahead and open that bator too while they are in there during incubation.

I forgot to post this...
I had an issue with my reptipro6000, the temp would not go where I set the thermostat. I thought maybe it was cause it had been running since the day I got it, LOL. So I called customer service and they are replacing it for me! The customer service with incubators.org could not be better! I am more then impressed since a lot of places would have not done this since I got it back at the beginning of May, so almost 60 days.

Any updates? I have my first hatch going with my reptipro. Day 7 everything is going great. Have a total of 68 eggs going between my reptipro and 1588 .Local Eggs: Cuckoo Marans, 100% English Blue Orps, Polish, Heritage RIR's, Americaunas, and Mystery Bantams. Shipped eggs: Lavender Orps, and Lemon Cuckoo Orps. Shipped eggs were treated ruoghly so don't have much hope for them.

Got a Reptipro 6000 and just took it out of the box. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get the cabinet door open. The latch will not budge. Is there a trick to it? Of course it is Friday night and the customer service number is M-F 9-5. I'm beginning to think I have a defective unit. I don't want to force it, but I would like to get the incubator set up and running!
