I am so excited to try this out, this will be my first time incubating.

Congrats!

My birthday is the end of this month.. so it's on my "wish list"

I feel like a little kid, lol... My hubby and I have been researching incubators for quite a while and I am glad I waited and didn't jump and get the hova bator.. I think this machine is much more durable and can hold alot more eggs.

Yay I can't wait to order a 6000 for myself, thanks Chris for taking the time to be an active member on this thread!! Customer support is very important to everyone. I'm going to change the thread's name to just Reptipro since there are 2 veesions now...

I have 1 duck egg due to hatch tomorrow, its the only one that made it to lockdown, the other 9 we're just to damaged during shipping. Its also the only egg that wasn't cracked but so far its alive & well! Oh before I forget, its a purebred Runner that will be either fawn, chocolate or both...so pretty adorable I'd say :)

Today is day 7 for my 5 emu eggs so here is an updated weight chart for them:

Day 1
A-671.8
B-653.2
C-671.1
D-681.3
E-672.8

Day 7
A-657.5 2.13%
B-639.1 2.16%
C-660 1.66%
D-666.8 2.13%
E-660.9 1.77%

I just ordered me the Reptipro 6000. I read alot of good reviews. I didn't get the one with the turner. i wonder if Id be able to use the turner from my little giant incubator. Also i was wondering do the chicks hatch out at the bottom or on the racks?

First hatching

These are eggs from Red Stars, NH Reds, and Auracanas and a NH Red Rooster. Temp during entire time was 100.2F and I started with 52% humidity and backed it off to around 42% after candling on day 10 and seeing the air sac not as big as it should be. Candled again at 14 days and saw good development, OK air sac. Locked down on day 19 and upped humidity to around 72%, removing from auto turner and setting on sides. One egg had a rather thick leathery membrane, all the others had a thinner moist membrane. Will start another batch after collecting today. It is 18F outside and I check every hour and get the eggs before they cool down too much. I assume they wouldn't have developed if they got too cold before I collected and stored at 55F before warming up to room temp then into the 'bator by the end of the day after collecting all.

First hatching - big disappointment.

It's Day 23 so I gave up and pulled the eggs out. No peeping, no pipping. Opened them from the top to check air sac, they all looked about right. Out of 10 eggs, 8 were fully developed, one was half developed, one was barely developed. These are eggs from Red Stars, NH Reds, and Auracanas and a NH Red Rooster. Temp during entire time was 100.2F and I started with 52% humidity and backed it off to around 42% after candling on day 10 and seeing the air sac not as big as it should be. One egg had a rather thick leathery membrane, all the others had a thinner moist membrane. All chicks had not zipped into air sac, they still had their heads tucked down. Since the temp was right and the humidity seemed right and they ALL died very late in development, I'm wondering what I did wrong? Will start another batch after collecting today. looks like the humidity was way to high in the beginning.. perhaps try a drier hatch this time?

When did you have issues with our customer service? We have had a couple employees come and go and I would like to pinpoint the issue. Send me a pm with your order number or just name so I can look up the issue. Also is there anything I can do to make the situation better or make your experience with us a better one?

Are you testing air temperatures when you are setting the temp or water temp as suggested. You will see there is a difference.

It sounds like the actual egg temp was on the low end and although it was enough to support development of the egg, it seems that they were running a several days behind and if left to hatch they probably would have been weak or malformed somehow. Please try the water method for setting temps which is where you place a cup of water at the level where your eggs are at (on the shelf). Then after about 6 hours test the temp of the water with several thermometers. If both thermometers read about the same adjust your temps until your water temp is about 99 to 100 degrees by dialing the incubator up 2 degrees say if your water read out was 98. Once the water is the desired temp let the unit sit and test the temp of the water several more times over the next 24 hour period to make sure it is stabilized. This will be the actual temp of the eggs as they are mostly water and hold heat in the same way.

Then you are ready to put your eggs in the incubator.

Thanks,
