How long do ducks take to pop? All 4 of the "M" kids were ex pipped yesterday afternoon when I went to bed, just a little crack and a bump. I got up for work, no change, I come home from work this morning, still no change. I took my knife and lifted the chip, all are moving, they look fine. So we wait, the humidity is 60+

they can take a few days.. so long as they are still moving strong and have plenty of air there is no need for worry
Mine externally pipped starting Monday night.. the first didn't make it out until this morning (Wednesday)



I have two more out.. so that's 7 so far
the other eggs have external pips and the one which had the air cell at the small end is still going strong!

So 15 shipped eggs.. 4 were clear... 1 pipped at the wrong end in the middle of the night Monday night and bled to death (found him Tuesday morning which was too late to try to save him)
that left 10 good eggs .. out of those 10, 7 have hatched and the rest are showing progress

Well then, I got my eggs today! Going to go ahead and put them in the bator tonight. Hoping I have as good a hatch with these as my last, although these little ones are hard to hatch.

Baby ducks yin! Too cute! Do you have a place for all of those ducks? Probably a nice little pond too!

Hopefully they all hatch for you.. are they shipped eggs?

some will go to freezer camp.. some will go on to make more baby ducks

We are giving the guys a bigger pond later this year... if all goes well and my husband doesn't get deployed again

One chicked hatched this morning in my reptipro. This is my second attempt first batch didnt hatch in a Hovabator. Should I move the chick to the buttom? It looks its really struggling to get on it feet on the tray. Also what should I do ablout the humidity spike when the chick hatched?

I take them out, put them in a brooder, the humidity does spike. They do fine drying off in a nice warm brooder.

Trial and error, I used to move my chicks to the bottom but found that the humidity got way too high and stayed there. Now I remove the chicks and the shells as soon as the chick hatches, I have an older Hova that I keep at temp all the time (Just in case) and I just put the chicks in there for a couple of hours. You can place them in a regular brooder, but make sure your temps are up where they need to be.

Just getting the feed ready. Theres now two chicks in the incubator. One just hatched. I still have one to go no pip yet though but it still day 20 I think

do you have any shelf liner on the tray?

no worries about the humidity spike.. just open the door occasionally for air exchange and so long as chicks hatch ok don't worry about the humidity at hatch
