Someone bumped that "please help answer unanswered threads" thread again, so I went and looked at the unanswered threads list and once again, probably 90% of the threads there are people either seeking or looking to rehome birds on the opposite side of the world from me.

Just being able to put those forums, or even individual threads, on ignore would make it possible to actually see unanswered threads I might be able to contribute to.

To see unanswered threads, this is what you look at:
We'd like to encourage everyone to take a moment and look through the Unanswered Posts here: (list without BST section) : https://www.backyardchickens.com/pages/unanswered/

Clicking "unanswered threads" on the main menu takes me to a page that looks different than the one you linked to:

I use this link, and bookmarked it, so I can easily go to it a few times a day. It does not have the Buy/Sale/Trade posts in there.

If you see Buy/Sell/Posts in there, they need to be moved so report them. Some people post looking for or selling eggs under a couple of different forums not realizing they aren't supposed to, so we just move them.

I would like something added: a "New Posts" list that focused on chicken specific threads. Without being cluttered with chitchat threads, games, intros, etc.
I miss a lot of content on here and even lose track of my own threads, because even the notifications of a response get buried under likes. I'm off and on through the day and I often don't have time to deep dive and find what I'm thinking about or would like to read (pure chicken stuff).
"...even the notifications of a response get buried under likes." Personally, I prefer not to have any notifications related to "likes" because it just takes too much time to scroll through them. If a reply is more than a click on an emoji, then I think it would be worth having to read. That's just me. I have limited time to be able to read the responses.

You can choose what you receive notifications for. Click on your username where it appears near the top of the screen, click 'preferences' and then scroll down and you should see a load of boxes you can tick or untick depending on what notifications you want.

Kind of branching off of this it'd be nice if there was a way to specifically subscribe to the iso/buy-sell-trade/rehoming threads for each state. I know that would probably be a lot of work to implement but I'd 100% start paying attention to what is being advertised in my state rather than completely ignoring that side of the forum, ATM 90% of them are not from my state/region so I don't want to bog down my notifs with threads that are irrelevant to me. Cross posting to the state threads definitely helps but for those of us who aren't active on a thread that is usually centered around weather (blergh, why?) we miss a lot of things that are being listed there.

If there's one main ongoing thread for sales etc within a specific state, does 'watching' that thread not work?

Or do you mean you'd want to somehow automatically watch or receive a notification for any new threads that are started and mention a specific state?

No those threads aren't really sales threads they're just general state threads, I personally don't enjoy keeping up with them because a lot of people just post about weather and it's just wasted data when I click on every new notif to keep up. They're meant for socializing and I rarely see any sales on there.

I mean it'd be great if I could subscribe to all Texas threads and when someone makes a thread in the sales/iso forums they can either choose to get less traffic on their thread by not selecting a state or they could reach a specific community much quicker by clicking a state/region option and people who are subscribed to that state/region tag will get a notification. At the moment I have to subscribe to that whole sub-forum and it's obnoxious to get all the NE, MO, AUS, etc... threads in my notifications when I'm states or even oceans apart from those people.
