rescue chicken, girl or boy

Here is my rescue chicken, any guesses on girl or boy? The back of its head has very few feathers where it was attacked by some cats but it's skin is healed up nicely.

Hmm, with the small wattles and comb, I'd say it was a hen, but then again, with those tail feathers, it could be a young roo. I guess you would have to wait to see if it either crows or lays an egg

I was told that roos have spurs and hens don't.

True, but mine are almost 14 weeks and they are just starting to get little bumps on their legs where their spurs will be. Mine started crowing before I noticed their baby spurs.

I think roo. And hens CAN have spurs too. Just look up "hen with spurs" in the searchbar and you may be surprised.

His legs are way fatter than my girls but I thought that might be the breed rather than hen vs roo

Judging from the pics, I would say roo. I think I see roo tailfeathers beginning to form.

Are the hackle feathers pointed? If yes, then roo definitely.

I dont have a good pic of its neck plus since it was attached by some cats the feathers are a bit messed up. I will try to look more closely when I get home at the feathers
