First you need to research your city laws and find out if you can even have chickens. Secondly, you need to have a place for them to live, all the equipment needed (feeders, waterers, etc.) BEFORE you get them, and you need to have a plan as to how you're going to take care of them and be able to buy feed each month, and know that you'll have time to properly care for them. The "OH! I just got chickens and have no idea where I'm going to put them or how I'm going to afford feed for them - HELP!!!" method does not do anyone any good. After you have all that figured out, then it's time to do more research and find out how you can rescue a few battery hens. Do a search on BYC - there have been posts by people who have done so, and maybe you could PM some of them and ask for help and ideas.

I have 4 4month onld chcikens and have always planed to add to my flock never knew before that there where chikens that could be resuced but if i am going to add to my flock i would like to at least add a few recuse to it I know my niceds will want some new chicks thats fine but if I can make a few chikens life better then I would love to that is the reason I asked for help cuz i cant find anythign is southern usa where to go or how to start.

I think that was sorta 'rude' of you bobbi-j making the assumption the OP had no clue how to raise or care for chickens! It was actually uncalled for.

I really wasn't trying to be rude. I couldn't tell from OP's first post that they had done all of the research, etc. (And, I've read way too many of the other types of posts) So, OP, I do apologize - no offense intended. It really was meant to be helpful. I think it's great that you have such a heart for rescue animals. (This is the problem with online forums. People can't read tone of voice, so things can be taken so many ways. Also, we're all dealing with people that we don't really know, so we don't know if they're being sincere or sarcastic, or just plain mean.) Once again, OP, I apologize for my appearance of rudeness. Good luck in your endeavor.
