Rescue Duck[lings] need some advice

:lau:gig Oh yes, there's always a gang of feathered supervisors watching and criticizing me any time I'm in their personal spaces
Nona Duck, my personal project manager: I was nailing down the chicken-wire to their house, using screw-nails with orange plastic disks. Skipped one nail and she was standing in front of the house making a quacktrum until i hammered in that missing nail with the orange disk. - I was flattened!

Again, still duck-virgin/duck-porn, but you're not trying to keep out determined predators with this set up. You're just creating a "safe space" between the adult flock and the young newcomers. So I'd think that set up would work fine.
The safe overnight spot is the little house. It is screwed down to the pallets that make the platform and is covered in ½' hardware cloth. They will be locked in there for the night and are allowed to go out into the mini-run during daytime. So far no aerial predators, no bobcats, cougars or raptors. Just Opossums and Raccoons overnight and a single weasel spotted on the DuckyCam once.
The fencing is just to give the Ducknagers a safe area to retreat from Katharinas Thugs. :D

I am so proud in having a hand in naming her. Nona the cat lives on.
