So, I took ( Bossy ) Bessie in not long ago after she and a lot of other hens were taken from someone that had too many and didn’t know how to properly care for them. I was just wanting to know her breed, but I figured she’s probably just some kind of sex-link or mix breed. Though, the very, very optimistic part of me wonders if she’s a Norfolk Grey ( I doubt it, but still ).

She looks like a mixed breed of Birchen base. There might be some Marans in her blood.

She does lay a dark brown egg, so Maran is fairly likely. I don’t know if it means much, but the pads of her feet are white, so she has white skin.

Marans have white skin too. So maybe Silver Marans X Australorp is a possibility.

If you're not from the UK there is virtually no chance it's a Norfolk Grey. I don't even think they've been imported to my knowledge. Where is she from? Possibly Birchen Marans
Lol, yeah, I figured. That was the blindly optimistic part of me wondering that. She’s a rescue, so I’m not entirely sure where she actually came from, but I assume she was initially purchased from a hatchery. Some of the other hens that were rescued had been debeaked, but that was probably the former owner that did that.

Anyways, she has a similar build to my black australorp hens. So, I figured she was some kind of australorp mix.
