Hello! We recently adopted a runner duck from a rescue. We have a mallard Drake but we aren't sure about the runner. We were told male but the runner is pretty small (it's around a year old) and seems to have duck colorings. Any help is appreciated!

Usually it’s hard to tell based off of looks. Males and females make different sounds. But if I had to guess it looks like a male

Cannot answer your question, as not 100% on ducks. But want to say her/him is beautiful. What a lovely thing you rescued her/him. He sure looks happy. lol :frow

I don't see any drake feathers in the tail, maybe the age is off and he's just finished molting into adult plumage but no new drake feathers?? I can't tell that his face is any darker than the fawn body feathers either, as should be with a drake.
